Scotland1 - 2SloveniaProbably the best performance of this team since Euro 2024. Scotland were poor but this shouldn't take away from the performance - this game could have ended 3 or 4-0 if not for poor finishing yet again. Fair play to Cesar who's really building this team up again. I must admit that I had doubts about him but he's so far on the right path to prove me wrong.

Honestly an unexpected and fairly professional game from Slovenia; the team created loads of half chances and chances (AND MANAGED TO ACTUALLY SCORE TWO) despite yet again being wasteful. Outside of the defensive lapses on our side, Macedonia didn't really threaten Oblak. I was really impressed by Begić who was our most dangerous man up until the 60th minute, also huge props to Šturm for the exquisite pass to Matko for the second goal. The team has done what it needed to do but now it is Switzerland away next which will most likely be a tough watch but hey, they might surprise everyone (probably not)
SloveniaSlovenia0 - 0ScotlandCesar is just continuing from where Kek left off. Start the match at full throttle, be the better team but fail to make the chances count. After 30 minutes the players are already tired and then the battle for a draw begins until the very end - it's sit back and counter but with the counters being as ineffective as they could possibly be. Rely on Oblak to make some unbelivable saves and then say that a draw was deserved. Before the game I would have taken a draw but the first 30 minutes showed me that this team is good enough to win even against a side that was at the WC. Yet again a missed opportunity not taken, and now it's already necessary to beat Macedonia on Tuesday.

Another absolutely cowardly performance from the players and Carrick. I accepted that Hull could have been a blimp, and that to some extent they were unlucky against Everton but absolutely no excuses today. City were down and out in the first after the red (and at the start of the second), and instead of increasing the pressure and going forward they yet again took the slow and steady approach. Do not even get me started on the mistakes (yes I'm looking at Dorgu and Dalot) especially for the goal. This probably has to be the least intelligent (supposedly) top team in the world. Maguire starts pushing Enzo while he's on the ground, instead of going forward and taking the opportunity of City being two players down WHILE LOSING. And Micheal Oliver was clearly set on giving City as many decisions and time as possible after the red. Also, the five minutes added on were a joke given that 4 minutes were lost on that phantom onside review alone. Can see myself checking out for the season in about October yet again.

What a kick in the teeth this was. Kucys had the champions league on his right foot but missed a tap in from 3 yards out in the 90th minute. Hit the post two times, two open headers from 5 yards out missed. But mistakes at this level are always punished. Also, taking out Daniel was the moment the tie was lost - complete loss of control after. Anyways, always preferred the Europa League.

Hull City2 - 0Man UnitedMake no mistake, for me personally, this is on par with Grimsby - you can get caught in a bad moment by a League 2 side playing your C team but to lose to Hull City (no disrespect Hull fans) - a borderline Championship side at best on the opening day of the season playing like United did today is horrendous and unacceptable. No urgency, no quality, seemingly a clear lack of fitness. I have not seen a good cross from the players in almost 100 minutes of football, and there were quite a few of them. These lot make more mistakes in one half than an elite side makes in a whole season. I want to blame Carrick (especially for starting Heaven and Dorgu at LW) but I have seen this performance each season across managers and season. The players lack any hint of accountability. They have yet again lost all the faith regained last season after Amorim that I had in this team, and I don't think I'll be fooled again by these absolute con artists.

Coventry, welcome back to the PL I guess. Arsenal seemed to have taken the foot of the gas, could have been worse for Coventry, who looked completely lost. It's the hardest game of the season and they are still getting up to speed, so they should get better with time.

Hopefully Verbič plays next week. Also, fair play to the ref - one of the best performances I have seen in a while.
