Coventry1 - 3Aston Villa
YES! warra performance we needed that so much and a nice little confidence boost, just need a win in the league now. nice overall performance aside a poor little period in the 1st half which allowed cov there goal, but can’t complain better than most performances this season. good for some of the players that a lot of people (including myself) knock, like tammy, get some goals and contribution and also nice to see some of the new boys. mbaye looks absolutely brilliant! love these early cup games they’re always good fun. UTV!
Aston Villa
Man United0 - 1Man City
solid manchester derby and a few twists and turns that kept it interesting not too stale of a game. however a dozen decisions that were an absolute shambles including the goal scored. midfield battle was really fun to watch and can’t believe mainoo wasn’t getting mins for so long. city played better with 10 men, good game 👍
Man CityAston Villa1 - 2Nott'm Forest
forest are thugs and we lost the game because of a ridiculous rule. best plan of attack is to injure one of the opposition players to leave them with 10 men and attack down that side until you score! least we had our trip to istanbul 🤷♂️ don’t even know what to expect from the season but we were poor overall again. mbaye looked really good in his minutes and nice to see alysson on the scoresheet. go again tuesday at cov.
Aston Villa
Porto0 - 2Man Citychampions league back baby 😄 starting with donnarumma, he wasn’t tested at all with any shots i think the couple of saves he made ended up offside, seemed reasonably comfortable coming out to claim the ball when called upon to recover it. distribution wasn’t awful overall however there was just a nervy sort of feeling when he got on the ball including a time he played it straight out of play under little to no pressure. just seemed to be a little shaky overall with the ball at his feet, and possibly seemed to be one or two times that his backline didn’t feel comfortable playing back towards him. not much else to talk about for him specifically as first mentioned didn’t come under anything much of note during the game, quiet game for a keeper. going over to diogo costa on the other hand i am extremely impressed to say the least. 2 goals conceded however continues to make a case as to why he can be one of the best on a big stage, and continues to remind everyone the talent he possesses. his shot stopping was nothing short of world class, from his reflexes to get to shots quickly, his positioning to make saves look easy and make them comfortable for him, as well as his ability to consistently parry the ball out of danger if he can’t keep a hold of it. wasn’t able to come and claim any crosses however comfortably recovered the ball at various points during the game to regain possession for his side as well as doing a good job at making himself big and intimidating when coming out to close attackers down. i was also especially impressed with the calmness and composure he showed with the ball at his feet all throughout the game, and how easy he made it look against a team with the quality city possess. always seemed to make the right decision with his passing, whether it be picking the open teammate by going short under pressure, or looking positively to pick a team out with a long ball, it was a complete performance and he continues to show he has the full package.

Bromley0 - 2AFC Wimbledon
sorry another goalkeeper analysis, using this as my own notes app. starting with george, subbed off through injury but in the half hour he played his distribution was absolutely miles off it, most balls played long but it’s expected since that’s how bromley play, but the execution was awful. in terms of wimbledon’s first goal, he needs to do much much better, header in his direction with a fair bit of power however would expect him to palm it away from goal, palmed it into his own net, poor overall imo. 22yo mason off the bench was an interesting watch, made a couple saves but wasn’t tested too much however showed positive signs with good reflexes and positioning, still with a slight feeling of inexperience in his performance. didn’t get much of a chance to command his area but seemed quite quick off his line, and comfortably claimed the cross he came for. his distribution was very disappointing similar to george, however i wouldn’t say the decisions he was making were poor i think the execution was bad. with his age i feel this is something he can work on and should with it proving his biggest weakness tonight, but not something to worry about especially in his circumstances. one or two times he came under pressure from opposition attackers and looked rushed off his feet but also something i would expect with his inexperience. bursik had a good game in his debut. same again, small sample size and not tested too much, just a couple saves you’d expect him to make but he made them look comfy enough. one of the saves he made took a couple deflections and bobbled very awkwardly but he did good to parry it out of danger. his distribution was fairly average, but i was impressed with his calmness on the ball and he didn’t seem to panic under pressure. few long balls he overhit or played inaccurately but nothing out of the ordinary at this level. confident recovering loose balls, but wasn’t tasked with coming out to claim the ball, deserved clean sheet and good performance.
AFC Wimbledon
Juventus1 - 1Milan
pretty good game overall and my first time watching serie a however recently got an obsession with goalkeeping so analysed keepers closely this game. starting with vicario, milan didn’t test him too much at all and he wasn’t very busy, the one goal he conceded (the only shot on target too), his positioning could of been a little better as i believe he left his far post and corner too open for a shot, if he was a few more inches to his left he would of had a bit of a better chance at getting to the ball however from the position he was in he wasn’t going to get to the ball it was a great finish. he recovered the ball and came off his line in situations you would expect him to consistently. his distribution started off quite shaky, there was a few times where he seemed to panic under pressure, made the wrong decision whether it be playing it long with better options, or playing teammates into risky situations, however there were just as many times he made the right pass and executed it well. maignan on the other hand continues to show why he is a world class goalkeeper and can be seen amongst the best in the world. his shot stopping was very good and he made a couple really good saves, as well as comfortably saving the ones you’d expect him to. the goal he conceded i’d say was unavoidable as a goalkeeper, the ball was positioned at the perfect height and at a speed that he never had a chance at keeping it out. he was extremely commanding of his area in coming out to clear/claim the ball when it was put into the box, and seemed to make the right decisions constantly when it came to coming off his line, he didn’t have many sweeper keeper duties to fulfill but when he was called upon he was there. the one part of the game that may of been a weakness was his distribution however i wouldn’t say it was particularly poor either, he seemed comfortable in possession and he rarely made a pass that put teammates into immediate danger, but he didn’t do anything that stood out.
Milan
Hull City0 - 0Aston Villachange fucking something. disgrace of a performance and i’m infuriated at the effort they’ve put in. constant negative football there were no runners, nobody trying to create and nobody who looked like they wanted to win. constant backwards and sideways football and it’s embarrassing we need to do better. questions have to be asked of emery regarding his tactics and on top of that his team selection it’s absolutely honking. terrible game and terrible football, CHANGE SOMETHING.
Aston Villa
Ipswich0 - 2Liverpool
very meh game liverpool looked good but it’s only ipswich at the end of the day. isak looked very very sharp, he might be back 👀 this is also gakpos year. ipswich keeper is dog wank
LiverpoolAston Villa0 - 1Arsenal
first of all i still aren’t worried we played remotely well under the circumstances, secondly i fucking despise arsenal with a deep passion. barkley ran the midfield and i thought we looked good defensively but going forward it is seriously worrying, luckily manzambi, mbaye and madjo all to join up excites me. wasn’t good that we gave eze the space we did for there goal but just unlucky overall could of been a draw on another day.
Aston VillaLiverpool2 - 2Nott'm Forestanother great match prem will be exciting this year forest looked a lot better than they did in the cup the other night and the game was all go not too many dull moments at all. forest defence was very impressive, victor munoz is fantastic as well keep an eye on him this year.
Nott'm ForestNott'm Forest0 - 2Leeds
snoozer game 1 decent goal 1 scrappy goal. leeds were miles better forest look absolute dross lets see how long it takes for marinakis to sack glasner 😬 2nd round cup tie and that’s exactly what it was 😴
Leeds
Fulham2 - 3Chelsea
what a great game chelsea looked really good going forward but so shaky defensively need that sorting out, sanchez had a horror display 😬 fulham looked up for it but they have a lot to work on and adapt to king going to be a special special player what a performance! all in all palmer is back to his best and chelsea’s attack will be terrifying. hard to see rogers and mcphee 🥲
Chelsea
Newcastle2 - 2Liverpoolgood match newcastle deserved win and hall was super unlucky at the end no doubt it was a pen though newcastle will be just fine this season everyone overreacted to there summer made some good signings liverpool one to watch 🫣
Newcastle
Brighton4 - 0Aston Villafirst of all calma i think we will still be okay, plenty of new signings to come through and a lot of patience is gonna be needed for them to all gel. extremely disappointing performance and every one of them were really really poor i can’t even pick a player out who i think stood out. nightmare debut from joao gomes but he will be back and so will we. bit scared for assna next week but hey ho we will figure it out. just footy ain’t it 👍
Brighton
Brentford3 - 0Tottenham
wow i mean what a fantastic spurs hate watch to start the season forgot to do this last night but so so nice to see a spurs team that spent so much be so abhorrently shit! good game overall brentford played really well. sangare i mean absolutely fantastic absolutely everywhere.
Brentford
Stoke City1 - 2Swansea
mid game first 30ish mins were brilliant but bit of a snoozer other 3pm kick offs were better. didn’t pay much attention so don’t know about motm. stoke might go down.
Swansea
Notts County1 - 1Leicester
good little 12:30 kick off and one i wouldn’t usually catch, quite a back and forth game overall but think county wanted a result that little bit more, decent watch.
Leicester
Wolves2 - 2Blackburn
good game and competitive and goals were quality to be fair, unsuccessful wolves hate watch but they have to get promoted there’s too much quality in the squad, roll on 26/27 season it starts today 😈
Wolves
PSG2 - 1Aston Villalate to review but all in all i am so happy and it was the most respectful loss i’ve seen in a long long time. can’t complain about the overall performance and for 80-85% of the game the energy and desire was clear to see and it was brilliant to watch. parts of the game where that desire wasn’t as clear and energy levels dropped but it’s still pre season so it’s expected. in my opinion we were the better side throughout the whole game and i believe we deserved to win, we created more chances, we played with a higher intensity and we played with more heart but unfortunately we just got the short end of the stick. to go and put a performance like that in against the best team in the world at near enough full strength with multiple key players missing from the squad and a starting 11 of players everyone was doubting pre match was fantastic to see and i couldn’t be more proud. it’s made me extremely excited for the season ahead and i hope it’s put to bed some of the worries fans had before the game. madjo is a star in the making and i can’t wait to see him develop he could of scored about 4, hemmings looks so much more confident on the ball and really reminds me of ramsey would love to keep him around. mcginn had a real captains performance and i can’t put into words how good he looked going forwards today. lastly maatsen looked unreal, after a rough start to his villa career he looks like he’s gonna make the starting left back spot his and what a first game to prove it. going forward, defensively, workrate all of it was so impressive and i am in love with his performance. all of them deserve a shoutout but these guys stood out, also thought buendia put himself on the line for us he was absolutely shattered at the end. bring on brighton away and UTFV!
Aston Villa
Plymouth2 - 0Exeter City
nothing too over the top but a thoroughly enjoyable watch and even better with it being derby day. plymouth deserved it and they played very well, worse side just crumbled at the end and we got to see some beautiful limbs. hm to hartridge for potm but boateng ran the midfield for me.
PlymouthWolves3 - 0Port Vale
good first half very entertaining but second half was a snoozer, unsuccessful hate watch but wolves looked good. also got to watch mo faal play football so that’s a positive, meh game.
Port Vale
Bayern2 - 1Aston Villagame was kinda buns and we were kinda ass, their first goal was offside but calma, joao gomes x kamara pivot excites me but on the other hand there’s a certain player who is pretending to be a footballer. still can’t pick a potm for some reason from villa but i’d go with bouba :)
Aberdeen2 - 1Heart Of Midlothian
first time watching scottish prem and it was god awful for about 85 minutes proper scrappy and then for the last 10-15 minutes it was the most chaotic mess i’ve ever seen and kevin nisbet smashed one top bins like it was nobodies business, will probably watch scottish football again 👍
Aberdeen
Indonesia All Stars1 - 3Aston Villanice to see the young players get another good run 2nd half was much more entertaining but hard watch at times. madjo is special we say it every week it’s not a surprise when he scores and it was nice to see garnacho even though he didn’t look amazing. still unable to pick a player of the match from villa? going to madjo though
Porto2 - 1Aston Villa
luka lynch has serious potential and what a goal by him, maatsen impressed me and looked very sharp excited for him to get a good run. hemmings passed the eye test and his progressive ability was on show, think he could get some senior minutes. not enough madjo 😡 still can’t put a player of the match on from villa only lets me use porto players, but hemmings was my potm
Walsall0 - 5Aston Villamadjo, hemmings, cisse, alysson #wowzers madjo is like an ibra regen 5-0 warra game not bad for pre season also won’t let me vote a villa player for motm but it’s brian madjo
