Basel 18932 - 5BarcelonaThe kids are all right, I couldn't watch the game live because I had other commitments at the time, with that being said, Barca are back and looking very dangerous on the flanks. First off, I really liked what Gordon was doing in the 1st half and how good he is using his pace to get through balls into the box. Raphinha again every time he has the ball, he is the one beginning the attack and committing the other players to spam the box in case there is a chance to score, a facilitator and the most important player who is instrumental to our attack and it's 1 of the reasons he was solely missed in the final months of last season. Adeyemi displayed better movements and has impressed me the most, 1 goal and assist. Hamza 1 goal, Lamine 1 goal from a penalty kick and an assist to Bisiwu. Jesse Bisiwu getting 2 rapid fire goals in the 90th minute of the game is chef's kiss. Pesquer again had a brilliant display and looked comfortable on the left flank. Fermin looks rusty still and Bernal had a decent outing and hopefully he learns a lot from Rodri. Bisiwu is MOTM for me, mainly due in part because Basel were mounting a comeback when the game was still 2-3 and then lamine gets a cheeky steal which helps Bisiwu get his goals. Exciting times to be a Barcelona fan.

Horrible game from Junior who created very little chances and wasted good opportunities to score. Muriel wasted many chances. Millonarios on the other hand at times looked bad but kept their composure and displayed a compact defense. They went full haramball and got the goal in the 90+1 minute. Junior starts the new season with 1 draw and 3 defeats in 4 games. Very concerning.

Deportes Tolima2 - 1JuniorTolima started out sloppy in the first 15 mins of the game and then proceeded to play a very effective counter attacking football. Tolima has very physical players which manage to disrupt Juniors midfield and defense at times. Hurtado had a stellar game with a goal and assist. Junior's 1st half was good for about 15 minutes before Tolima adjusted themselves and imposed their style of play on the sharks. Junior's defense is very concerning, allowing 2 goals from counter attacks and the defense allowing the Tolima players to get by with ease. The 2nd Tolima goal especially was a big mistake on Junior's part. Tolima starts the counter attack while Junior only focuses on the player with the ball, they forget to mark the Tolima player coming from behind asking for the ball and scores the 2nd goal. Very poor defending from junior. It's only the 1st game of the season but having won back to back titles and displaying a poor performance vs a Tolima who at times had shaky defense is disappointing. Credit to the Mexican keeper of Tolima who blocked 2 chances which could have put junior in front before Tolima got their goals later on. Ferran Is the GOAT. What a goal too. Argentina had a few chances but failed to score. Messi just couldn't get the ball as often. Paredes Is a hot head and Enzo made a dumb mistake which cost the team. Spain dominated with a Rodri who could not be dispossessed and Pedri holding the ball worked wonders. Cubarsí again has an amazing final. Congrats to Spain and to all us Barca fans too. I'd like to end it by saying I had a lot of fun watching the games and writing reviews on Bookd during the world cup. I will switch my tune to Club football when it returns so I can document the upcoming season. Visca Barça!

England1 - 2ArgentinaArgentina backs against the wall scored 2 goals in 7 minutes. What a game man. Gordon scored England's only goal. I will say that England after Argentina scored the equalizer had no plan B, C, or D. Tuchel once again messed up thinking you can beat Argentina with a 1 goal lead. To beat Argentina you need to score at least 4-5 goals and no amount of defending will win you a game especially In a semifinal when you let the opponent have the ball for the last 30 minutes of the game. A well deserved win for Argentina who never gave up. The referee messed up many times not punishing players on both sides with harsh fouling but also stopping play at random moments. Messi again in a final which could have been played back in March. Spain vs Argentina final an all Barca Final. May the best win.

France0 - 2SpainThey said they weren't going to mark Lamine Yamal. - Rabiot got hooked 😭✌🏻 - Dembele the Ballon d'Or did what ? 😭✌🏻 - Olise got hooked - Mbappe stinker 😭✌🏻 - Doue fumbled & stinker 😭✌🏻 - Cherki on and couldn't do nothing - Deschamps starts Tchouameni who is not match fit and did what he normally does at Madrid pull stinkers 😭✌🏻 They were focused on what Yamal was doing that they forgot about Oyarzabal and Porro. Lamine had a decent game besides the offside goal and got the penalty call that put Oyarzabal on. Amazing display from Spain especially in the 2nd half after going 2 up, they bossed France who had some chances but fumbled. Saliba injury sucks, of course, you always want to play against a fully fit team. Dani Olmo, I gotta give him his flowers, he is having the most underrated world cup run like the 2024 Euros run. Spain National Team Olmo Is world class. Cucurella who displayed an impressive defensive effort played a huge role in today's win. Cubarsí who keeps getting unnoticed but is having an insane world cup run. Rodri bossed the midfield again even when he was marked by 3 or 4 French players. Congrats to Spain. Last thing I say, Lamine Yamal got the last laugh and was successful, he managed to rattle them.

The national team needs to take a long hard look at what they wanna do in 4 years and sort out the issues with the team.

The opps were ready to celebrate Messi's exit but now they're left holding their balls. Rahhhhhh what a game. Messi missed a penalty, almost scores a free kick that hits the post, scores a goal to tie the game and assists Cuti Romero to kick off the comeback. With that out of the way, Scaloni has to ask some serious questions. When will Nico Paz and Giuliano Simeone come on? It's not a good sign that Argentina has been sloppy for the past 3 games scraping wins that could have been won comfortably with the exception of Cape Verde who made it difficult for Argentina, Uruguay, and Spain. Austria performed well defensively but that was all Messi. Egypt who played like a vintage counter attacking team had Argentina by the neck until the 79th minute. I'm sure Scaloni will eventually make changes but, if he doesn't adapt soon it could cost them if they keep going deeper in the tournament. Regardless of how good Messi is, France, Spain, and England are teams with different ideas of play and can hurt Argentina easily if they continue to play without making some much needed changes to this squad. What a comeback and Congrats to Argentina on a well deserved win.

De La Fuentes subbing in Ferran and Merino worked after Oyarzabal missed chances in the first half and Baena had an all-time stinker. Pedri and Vitinha ghosted and stinkers. Spain held on and Portugal wasted their chances. Mr. I'm Back needs to retire.

Mexico2 - 3EnglandWhat a game man, from the first minute to the 90th minute we saw 2 teams giving it all on the pitch. Saka gave the first assist of the game for Bellingham to score the 1st goal and then Kane assisted Bellingham to give England a rapid fire 2nd goal. Mexico then got a goal back from Quiñones to end the 1st half. In the 2nd half we got a red card from Quansah which changed the formation for England taking out Saka and subbing in Stones. England got a penalty from Gordon which Kane scored for the decisive 3rd goal. 10 minutes later, Mexico got a penalty from Kane messing up in the penalty box. Mexico got their 2nd goal and from that point onwards, it became a tussle for possession. England subbed in some more defenders to take home the result. Mexico came close to getting an equalizer but Pickford was not gonna let it happen. 90 minutes finally arrived and we got an 11 minute extra time thriller where Mexico started spamming shots and long balls from 40-60 meters which England controlled very well. Congrats to England and to Anthony Gordon who played one of the best games tonight.

Before I start, let me be clear, this Brazil squad had the best intentions but it wasn't enough and Ancelotti has blood on his hands, selecting a squad that wasn't properly fit to play. I understand why he selected Neymar over Joao Pedro but calling up Fabinho, Igor Thiago, Alex Sandro is criminal. Useless players who were wasting space but I understand that Brazil's current crop of players is limited. There were times I asked why Ancelotti never used Luiz Henríque and leaving Endrick out when they needed a 9 to get goals is laughable. It's a shame Raphinha relapsed with a muscle injury but the sad reality is, Ancelotti would have kept misusing him in that squad. I again ask if the point of the team is to win and Brazil is notorious for holding their players to a high standard why was the plan pass to Vinicius and inshallah? I get Vinicius being the main target of attack but honestly Brazil is just not good enough. They were good enough for group stages but the tactics Ancelotti used wouldn't have been enough to make a deep run in the Knockouts. Ancelotti has 4 years to come up with a squad that can compete with Argentina and Europe because they are currently just being set up for a long period of disappointment. Brazil's lack of Fullbacks Is disappointing too, they had Roberto Carlos, Dani Alves, and Marcelo at one point and now they just employ old and random players. Brazil's midfield was also non-existent which needs the most work and they will need to look to the youth to find a gem of a midfielder. Rodrygo was genuinely missed in this squad because he gels well with Vinicius. Brazil will also need to replace Alisson because his time is up. I genuinely hope Brazil sorts out their squad issues but I fear it will take a while. I remember when Brazil won the 2019 Copa America and laughed at Argentina for their continued failures and now the roles are reversed. Good luck and Animo Brazil.

Enciso, Almirón, and Alderete all subbed off due to injury or exhaustion and the game was pretty much wraps after that. They got the goal from a penalty, the only goal in the game. France will take on Morocco next.

Jonathan Davids needs to hang it up man... He's been cheeks. Ounahi should've been bookd a 2nd yellow but Michael Oliver forgave him. Canada played so well but needed an early goal. Morocco with very little created 3 goals. Canada making errors and giving Morocco chances to score. Canada tried their best but it wasn't enough, I feel bad for my Canada bros because they're my neighbors up north and losing sucks but they will be back. Animo Canada 🇨🇦

Lionel Messi displays an elite performance in one of the best UCL games in history. Messi with 2 goals and an assist. I remember vividly how tense this match was and how close Lewandowski was close to scoring for Bayern, lucky for us we had a young Ter Stegen who was very good in the beginning. This game will always be one to remember.

We kept a clean sheet and we mean business but against Switzerland we have to create more and finish our chances. We move to Canada to play against Switzerland.

Gonçalo Ramos with an assist from Rafa Leao for the lead goal. Croatia had chances to put more goals past Portugal but missed. Budimir should have never started the match.

Strong Display from Spain today. Austria was very poor and didn't register a single shot at goal. Spain bossed Austria with an in-form Pedri and Rodri. Porro got a goal from a Baena assist. Oyarzabal despite being meh in large parts of the game got a brace with 2 assists from Cucurella. Lamine despite not getting a goal bossed Laimer who got played like a traffic cone.

Crazy game. Exciting back and forth. I feel bad for Senegal but Belgium got the win. Lukaku pushed through after every Belgium player had already given up and Youri Tielemans got a brace. After 70 minutes Senegal got too relaxed and let the game slip.
