feeling the need to log another entry about this match: while i understand the action taken by the administration of bookd to moderate the chat mostly around israel, i would be remiss to not say something (serious, i’ve made plenty of jokes). football is inherently political. israel is committing a genocide. criticizing israel is not antisemitism. joking about israel and their inability to do anything but slaughter children is not antisemitism. while antisemitism does exist around the topic, i don’t agree fully with the decision to potentially lock all chats involving israel. i’m palestinian, living in america. i am only writing this whilst sitting on my couch in detroit because of geographical luck and the sacrifices of my family throughout generations. there are thousands of children and young people who do not and will not ever have this luxury. there are thousands of children throughout palestine and the greater levant who had their dreams stolen, either by amputation or death; dreams as small as one day playing football with their friends on a pitch without the threat of bombs or snipers. i think of these children every time i’m watching a match or talking to my friends about the game or in the stands. they deserved to live as we do. obviously, it’s not that serious here. this is a football app. however, i think shutting down everything around the discussion of israel and their football team is wrong and sends a strange message. again— rationally, i understand the decision. however, i cannot support what feels like a blind deflection of the responsibility that comes with handling this sort of subject matter. shoutout toni and olivia for all they do, but free palestine till it’s backwards. israel is committing a genocide, and we cannot let anyone forget or turn a blind eye to it. 🇵🇸 (forgive any strange wording here, i’m a bit fired up)

To all the Mastantuono haters for no reason: COME THE FUCK OUTSIIIIIIIDEEEEEE HAHHAHAHAHHA Thank god we decided to show up today, definitely looked better overall though still poor defensively. Vanoli effect is real i guess. Mastantuono getting a hattrick is great, but besides that he had 4 key passes, created one big chance, had 8 shots, and 3/4 successful dribbles. Just an incredible performance from him. But theres still lots to improve, hopefully Vanoli can bring us back on track like last year. But much happier with today’s performance than i was with any of Grosso his performances.

When Venezia took the lead, I was thinking "here we go again Fiorentina", but the absolute dedication, quality and leadership for a young Franco Mastantuono to step up and drag Fiorentina by the scruff of their neck, out of the trenches.... I have to applaud. He's been getting a lot of abuse online, which I personally disagree with and think is unfair. It's not his fault Xabi Alonso threw him into the deep end so quickly. He just needed a little more time and experience to develop, which Fiorentina definitely is the place for that. A rough start for them, however, performances like this can help Fiorentina keep climbing up the table. Bravo Franco 👏

Moment of silence for those who missed this match... It all started to turn around when Jon Martin got a red card for a ridiculous handball, which was deserved honestly. Elche took the advantage against all the odds and tied the match 2-2. Lemar played that 2nd half beautifully and what a goal he scored! Glorious goals for them, but unfortunately Sociedad scored at the 90th minute to seal the match. What a game of football! LaLiga does not disappoint at times like these!

So boring. From a defensive standpoint we were very good, from the backline to Tonali in midfield. But our attacking threat is non existent. No creativity in our midfield is what killing us, NOT TEL as many fans would have you believe. Nothing to do with the players in the midfield, just injuries derailing our creative midfielders, although I do think I need to see some change in the duo of Bentancur and Gallagher. Marmoush was too wasteful, how he hasnt managed to put one of those two on target (or at least find Kudus in the second). I did think Mathys Tel was our best attacker, I think the anti-Tel agenda Im seeing everywhere is unwarranted, and even if you disagree the hate train towards him is ABSOLUTELY unwarranted. The same thing happened with our fanbase with Brennan Johnson. First point of the season is a positive I guess but how are we still looking for our first goal of the season three games into the season, similar situation happened with Aston Villa last season and they finished in a Europe spot so I think we just gotta stick by our boys and support them rather than spread hate.

Today you lost as a team, pathetically and with a whimper. You settled for second best and didn't push yourselves. You are lucky enough to have been given the second chance of another home game next on Saturday, honour Alan and Beau properly this time. Almost everyone played great from Barca, but specifically Raphinha, Fermin Lopez, Gordon, and Espart were incredible. They just make everything look so easy which is very fun to watch. Elche did start somewhat well though, had a good press going but the goals are just inevitable and they brought absolutely nothing to stop that from happening. Raphinha is the easy choice for man of the match. Espart somewhat close to it, he was class, such a great talent as well.
